History

In early August 1998, four teams took the field on the banks of the Musconetcong River in search of wiffle ball supremacy.  After a fun-filled and competitive day, Big Blue Machine emerged victorious.  Warren County WIFFLE Ball was born...

In subsequent Augusts, Warren Countians would flock to the Jennings residence on River Road in Washington for their shot at wiffle ball glory.  Like any successful and competitive sporting event, expansion was inevitable.  four teams became eight and eight became twelve.  A 2nd field, albeit a quirky one to accommodate the surrounding trees, was constructed.  As the tournament grew, WCWB partnered with the neighboring Butler Park Fire Department.
As its popularity grew, WCWB once again expanded in 2006 with the addition of Friday Night Play-In Games and the Home Run Derby.  New teams would gather on Friday evening in an effort to claim the final and 12th seed in the Warren County WIFFLE Ball Tournament.  As dusk approached, players from all teams would take their biggest cuts to win a Home Run Derby title.
Our Tenth Anniversary, in 2007, was a special occasion for WCWB.   It was so special that Gov. John Corzine declared August 4, 2007 Warren County Wiffle Ball Day across the entire state of New Jersey.
Wiffle Ball is as American as the stars and stripes.  Every Independence Day WCWB builds a float to march in the local Washington Celebrates America parade.
After 15 years in Butler Park and 10 years with FTFD we celebrated our Silver Anniversary in 2023.  The Rookies went back to back, which had only happened one other time (Warren County Commission 8th/9th).  The 25th Anniversary Event also brought back Friday Night Play-In games for the first time in 10 years.
In 2013, after an incredible 15 years, WCWB said goodbye to the only venue it had ever known in Butler Park.  It was bittersweet in many ways, but it was time to move on.  WCWB has since partnered with Franklin Township Fire Department in Asbury.  Once again the field expanded to 24 teams on 4 fields and in 2017 we celebrated our 20th Anniversary.
